Civilian killing in Nagaland: Case of mistaken identity, says Home Minister Amit Shah

Speaking about the killing of 14 civilians in Nagaland by the Armed Forces, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday told Lok Sabha that it was a case of "mistaken identity" and the Army has expressed regret over the incident. The home minister said that six out of the eight people in the vehicle died and it was later found to be a case of mistaken identity. Amit Shah said when the villagers got to know about the news, they surrounded and attacked the Army unit by setting two vehicles on fire. Amit Shah said the Army has expressed regret over the incident and is investigating the matter at the highest level.
