Elgar Parishad accused demand probe into Stan Swamy's death, stage hunger strike in jail
India TodayThe Elgar Parishad case accused, who are awaiting the beginning of their trial and are currently lodged at the Taloja Central Prison in Navi Mumbai, held a daylong hunger strike on Wednesday in protest of the “institutional murder” of tribal activist, Father Stan Swamy. The protesting Elgar Parishad case accused have also sought a judicial enquiry on the death of Stan Swamy, for which they plan to request Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Jesuit priest Stan Swamy, an 84-year-old activist, had been shifted to a hospital after the Bombay High Court got to know about his depleting health conditions. The other accused in the Elgar Parishad case held a hunger strike against the NIA and the Taloja Jail superintendent who they said are responsible for Stan Swamy’s death.
