TIRUNELVELI: Students should focus on innovation and contribute to increasing India's share of intellectual property patents, said Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi in Tirunelveli on Tuesday. Highlighting India's progress in the global economy, the governor said, "India slipped from the sixth position in the global economic order to the 11th in 2014. He further stressed on the importance of technological research and innovation, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's emphasis on intellectual property creation as a cornerstone of India's strength. Pointing out India's historical contributions to knowledge, Ravi lamented the setbacks caused by invasions and colonisation over the past 1,000 years.
