The Reservation Trick That Makes a Meal Extra Special
SlateThis is One Thing, a column with tips on how to live. Therefore, in order to make a memory, I will make a reservation, and in the section where they ask if you’re celebrating anything, I always select “Anniversary.” It might be Saturn’s return or simply luck, but I have done this on every dinner date since college. To prove whether restaurants actually pay attention to your Resy details, I’d point to Season 2, Episode 7 of The Bear when Richie stages for a fine-dining restaurant called Ever and realizes that true hospitality lies in the details. This leads Richie to haul ass and pick up a deep-dish pizza after overhearing some guests lament that they’ll be leaving Chicago without ever trying one. Out of all the occasion options typically offered by reservation apps, I really do find “anniversary” to be the best one to choose.
