
NABARD pegs credit potential for Kanniyakumari district at ₹28,687 crore
The HinduKanniyakumari District Revenue Officer J. Balasubramaniam released the Potential-Linked Credit Plan prepared by National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development for Kanniyakumari district for the fiscal year 2025-26. The total credit projection for Kanniyakumari district stands at ₹28,687 crore with the agriculture sector receiving the highest allocation of ₹13,280 crore. At the event the revenue officer advised the banks to allocate more target towards medium and long term credit in agriculture as there is good potential to promote farm mechanisation, micro irrigation systems, and animal husbandry sectors in the district. Suresh Ramalingam, AGM, NABARD outlined the key points of PLP 2025-26 which includes agriculture and allied sectors, MSMEs credit flow of ₹ 5,177.55 crore to promote entrepreneurship and industrial growth, infrastructure development, skill development initiatives, export credit and market linkages, financial inclusion and digital banking, climate resilience and green energy and education and housing sectors.
