Madhya Pradesh man dies in accident, wife's 'preserve sperm' plea stumps doctors

A woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa made an unusual request to preserve the sperm of her late husband, leaving doctors and police at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in a state of dilemma. The grieving wife initially refused the post-mortem but later arrived at the hospital with a unique demand — to preserve her late husband’s sperm so she could conceive his child and cherish his memory for a lifetime. Since more than 24 hours had already passed since the husband’s death, the doctors informed the woman that the procedure could not be performed. Dr Atul Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, said, “It was an emotionally charged situation as the woman had lost her husband only four months after their wedding.
