Reality shows boost tourism in Xishuangbanna

As the fourth season of popular Chinese reality show Back to the Field recently premiered on Hunan Satellite TV, tourists showed more interest in its shooting place: Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province. Seeking slower-paced lifestyles in picturesque rural areas, the reality show features celebrities Huang Lei, He Jiong, Peng Yuchang and Zhang Zifeng. The website’s data revealed tourists were most interested in scenic areas such as Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Manting Park, Xishuangbanna Primeval Forest Park and the Wild Elephant Valley. While they’re still at home, watching TV, reality shows and livestreams will make them become potential visitors to certain places,” said Feng Rao, head of Mafengwo's tourism research center.
