Is hacktivist group Dark Storm really behind the global outage of X?
India TodayElon Musk, the world's richest man and a close confidante of US President Donald Trump, has been challenged. Hacktivist group Dark Storm claimed responsibility on Telegram for the "massive" attacks that overwhelmed X with excessive traffic, which, according to Musk, forced the platform to activate Cloudflare's DDoS protections to restore stability. The hacktivist group claimed a DDoS attack on JFK Airport in New York, calling it "the most welcoming airport for the Zionist entity", marking a shift toward targeting perceived supporters of Israel. The Dark Storm Team claimed responsibility for an attack on Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, which had previously been reported as a DDoS target, though its direct involvement remains uncertain. Independent cybersecurity firm Orange Cyber Defence has identified a coalition between Dark Storm and KillNet, a notorious hacking group known for DDoS attacks of a similar nature.
