During the sentencing hearing, prosecutor Joan Illuzzi asked Judge James Burke to impose 25 years or “near” 25 years in prison for his conviction on a charge of criminal sexual act in the first degree involving Haleyi and to impose a consecutive sentence for the third-degree rape conviction involving Mann. “Harvey Weinstein’s legacy will always be that he’s a convicted rapist”, the Silence Breakers, a group of 24 women who accused Weinstein of sexual assault, said in a statement following the sentencing. “He is going to jail – but no amount of jail time will repair the lives he ruined, the careers he destroyed, or the damage he has caused.” BREAKING: Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for his February conviction of criminal sexual act in the first degree and rape in the third degree.
