School holiday travellers told to expect long queues as airports predict busiest period since start of COVID pandemic

Travellers are being told to expect long queues at airports this weekend as the winter school holidays kick off in Queensland, Victoria and the Northern Territory. Travellers warned to expect more disruptions Photo shows People wearing masks and carrying bags line up in long queues Airport boss says Australians should expect more disruptions to travel over the next 12 months, as the industry scrambles to fill critical worker shortages ahead of the July school holidays. "Travelling with hand luggage is an option, that is also one way to skip the bag drop queue," says Brisbane Airport head of public affairs Stephen Beckett. The airline is still well down on the number of pre-pandemic flights, but it's hoping the start of school holidays means travellers will be ready to once again take to the skies.
