Will streamline conduct and judging of State School Arts Festival from lower levels: Sivankutty
The HinduEducation Minister V. Sivankutty believes the State School Arts Festival deserves attention from beyond Kerala. “Other States in India should know about this and next year we could even try to get Guinness to record it as the world’s largest arts festival for students, as we had about 15,000 participants here,” the Mr. Sivankutty told The Hindu here on Wednesday. “There might have been instances of undesirable practices in the conduct, but now everything, from the school level, will come under the purview of the Ministry of Education.” Mr. Sivankutty said every effort had been made to get incorruptible judges. “Even the so-called middlemen of Thiruvananthapuram who are known to influence the judges at arts festivals, at school and college, were also under their radar.” Mr. Sivankutty said the decision to make the trade unions part of this festival also proved right. “This festival is also very important as we were able to include tribal dances for the first time in history,” Mr. Sivankutty said.
