Temple board seeks no-fly zone over Tirumala to 'preserve its sanctity'
India TodayTirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Chairman BR Naidu wrote to Union Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, urging him to declare Andhra Pradesh's revered Tirupati temple a no-fly zone. The letter stated that the Tirumala shrine, also known as the Venkateshwara Temple, should be declared a no-fly zone, keeping in mind the principles of Agama Shastra, the sanctity of the temple, and the safety and sentiments of the devotees. TTD Chairman Naidu also maintained that low-flying planes, helicopters and other aerial activities over the Tirumala hill are disturbing the sacred atmosphere around the Srivari temple. Declaring the shrine a no-fly zone would prevent any unauthorised aerial activities near the temple, which could disturb the peace and devotion of the pilgrims, he added.
