It was March 2017. Ratan Sharda, a lifelong Sangh member and author, wrote in the RSS mouthpiece Organiser that the election results had come as a reality check for "overconfident BJP karyakartas and many of its leaders". In a speech in Parliament in March, PM Modi said the Maha Kumbh "reflects the spirit of rising India". Modi, who started off as an RSS pracharak, also referred to the Maha Kumbh during his visit to the Sangh headquarters in Nagpur. If the 2024 general election, and later the polls in Haryana, Maharashtra and Delhi delivered a political message that the two would benefit from working together, the massive arrivals at Maha Kumbh were a message far beyond the daily political nitt-gritty.
