Manu Bhaker and the grace of true champions
The HinduSuccess is a funny thing. One day, you’re just another person wandering around, and the next, people start acting as if you’ve arrived straight from Mount Olympus. When most of today’s celebrities dodge anything that doesn’t promise a big paycheque, Manu raced against the clock to attend the Sportstar Aces in Mumbai. She was competing at the Karni Singh Range in the national capital until 2 p.m. but braved a 40-minute drive to Delhi airport, a two-hour flight, and the famously sluggish Mumbai traffic — all for an awards night she could have easily skipped. We’ve seen it with Neeraj Chopra at the 2022 Sportstar Aces, and Leander Paes does it practically every day — each time, they make people feel special, even when they have nothing tangible to offer in return.
