School zone cameras in Queensland issue more speeding fines than police

ABC

New covert cameras in Queensland school zones are giving out more fines to speeding drivers than the police, resulting in thousands more motorists being hit with penalties. In the 2022-23 financial year, before the cameras began operations, a total of 13,571 speeding fines were issued in Queensland school zones, with all given out by police. "I'm disappointed to see that so many people are still speeding around school zones, in some cases doing more than 30 kilometres over the speed limit. Of the 14,557 fines issued from the new cameras, about 70 per cent — or 10,283 infringements — were given to drivers captured speeding up to 11kph over the limit.
