Announcing the decision, Arvind Kejriwal said this is to ensure "hassle-free commute" in the city so that there is no disturbance in celebrations of birth anniversary of Guru Nank, the founder of Sikhism. It said the Amritsar-Wagah route will be extended to Kartarpur Sahib under Mukhyamantri Tirtha Yatra Yojana and the government will bear any fee that needs to be paid to Indian or Pakistan government in foreign or Indian currency.
