Allahabad High Court urges UP government to aid children with disabilities

India Today

The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to establish adequate educational, medical, and support facilities across all districts to ensure the comprehensive development of children with disabilities. Highlighting the disparity in resources across districts, the court emphasised the importance of equitable access to essential services for children with disabilities. In its order, the court instructed the state government to take necessary measures to upgrade and provide appropriate medical, educational, and developmental support systems for disabled children in every district of the state. The counsel for the Basik Shiksha Adhikari informed the court that there was an overwhelming number of transfer requests to Noida and Ghaziabad on medical grounds, making it difficult to accommodate all such appeals.
