After shocking loss, the Mike McCarthy firing rumors have begun. There was no more guessing who gets the credit or the blame for the successes and failures of the offense between McCarthy, a longtime offensive mind and play caller in Green Bay, and Kellen Moore, the official offensive coordinator and play caller for McCarthy’s first three years as coach in Dallas. “At the end of the day, the quarterback — it’s the way I’ve always done it, in Green Bay and all the way back to New Orleans — they need to own the offense,” McCarthy said. But I want to be real clear, Dak’s very capable of making this team be where we want it to go.” The Cowboys’ biggest test this season with Dak Prescott running Mike McCarthy’s offense did not go well against the 49ers. Go back to McCarthy’s comments in June, which he said goes back to his days in Green Bay and New Orleans: “I want smart, Hall of Fame type of quarterbacks.” Certainly, no coach would complain about having a smart, Hall of Fame-type quarterback.
