Plans for amendments to allow public protests by levying small fee: M.B. Rajesh

The government plans to bring in amendments to allow public protests by levying a small fee, Minister for Local Self-government M.B. A meeting convened by the Chief Minister in January had decided to bring in amendments to laws and rules so that a fixed fee could be levied for public promotions. These promotions should uphold the spirit of the High Court directions, should not affect safety of people or put them to hardship, and use promotional materials that were not illegal, the Minister said. The amendments to Acts and rules will be made at the earliest so that the public promotions could be held legally, the Minister said.
