Outplayed for much of this contest, Mark McCall’s side somehow found a way to overturn an 11-point deficit with a record comeback – a scoring blitz of 21 points in 17 minutes in the final quarter - to claim a fourth Gallagher Premiership title in five seasons and complete yet another domestic and European double in a final that will live long in the memory. Exeter came almightily close to pulling off what would have been a famous victory, but even with their foot on Saracens’ throat, and with McCall’s side seemingly lacking their usual spark in the draining heat at Twickenham, the title was stripped from their grasp with tries by Liam Williams, Sean Maitland and Jamie George to complete one of the finest comebacks seen at Twickenham. "We huffed and puffed, but somehow this group found a way physically and emotionally,” said Saracens director of rugby McCall, who underscored his own status as the Premiership’s frontrunner to succeed Eddie Jones as England head coach.
