Inflows into River Godavari begin in Nizamabad district
Deccan ChronicleWater flow to River Godavari has started in Nizamabad district, following the rains in the river’s catchment areas. Water from Nizamabad, Nirmal and Nanded district coursed through the river.Kandakurthi, confluence of River Godavari and its tributaries Manjeera and Haridra witnessed substantial water flow. The evaporation loss was 238 cusecs, while the drinking water needs of Korutla, Jagtial, Adilabad, Nirmal, Armoor, Nizamabad and Kamareddy district were of 231 cusecs considered as outflows.There is no water release for the Kakatiya main canal, the Laxmi canal, Alisagar, the Gutpa lift irrigation schemes and the flood- flow canal. The total average outflows was 479 cusecs.If heavy rains lashed Maharashtra, River Godavari will get copious inflows from upstream areas and the Sriramsagar project will be filled.
