Rajasthan High Court Asks Woman Pressurized By Parents To Live With Child Marriage Partner To Approach Police For Security
Live LawThe Rajasthan High Court has directed a woman, who was married off while a minor and now wishes to part her ways, to file a representation before the Superintendent of Police, Jodhpur for appropriate security. Notably, the woman has approached the court with the grievance that her parents are pressuring her to live with the person with whom her marriage was solemnised while she was a child. Justice Dinesh Mehta, observed, "Having regard to the apprehension expressed by the petitioner that her parents and family members will intrude in her life and liberty, instant petition is being disposed of with a direction to the petitioner to file a representation before the Superintendent of Police, Jodhpur for appropriate security so as to enable her to take up her examinations at Jaipur which are going to be scheduled from 11.06.2022 to 06.07.2022." The court ordered that if any such representation is made by the woman, then the Superintendent of Police, Jodhpur shall consider the same, in accordance with law.
