Port city taking active lead on standardization

CHINA DAILY As the host of the Qingdao Forum on International Standardization, the coastal city in Shandong province has used standardization as a crucial focus in its development strategy for almost 15 years. After a series of documents were issued to provide policy support for standardization, the international standardization work in the city is among the best in the country with a large number of globally renowned enterprises with good standardization practices, such as Haier, Hisense, CRRC Qingdao Sifang and Tsingtao Beer. Meanwhile, the "standardization-plus" strategy was integrated into the 2016-20 development plan of Qingdao, setting the goal of developing internationally advanced "Qingdao standards" and leading the international standardization activities across the country. Zhang Jie, head of the Qingdao administration for market regulation, said the Qingdao forum has benefited the city providing it with deep exchanges and cooperation with international standardization organizations, and has made Qingdao an important platform attracting standardization talents from around the world.
