Kochi Corporation proposes LAP to transform Palluruthy into development corridor
The HinduAfter initiating steps to draw up a local area plan centred around Vyttila based on the concept of transit-oriented development, the Kochi Corporation is set to follow it up with another LAP at Palluruthy, following a slightly different model that retains rural characteristics despite being part of an urban civic body. The proposed LAP will cover a larger geographical area, focusing on infrastructure development and spatial and financial planning while broadly following the contours of the Vyttila LAP model. The maiden LAP has been proposed for select areas of four divisions—49, 51, 52, and 53—based on the Corporation’s master plan for the city, which was notified by the State government last year. The TOD-driven LAP model proposes to promote development and increase population density around Vyttila, with a focus on public transport facilities, pedestrian infrastructure, and public playgrounds.
