How chicken nuggets stopped deportation of Albanian man from UK

Firstpost

Klevis Disha, a 39-year-old Albanian national, was not deported from the UK partly because his young son will not eat foreign chicken nuggets. An immigration tribunal ruled it would be ‘unduly harsh’ to forcefully send the 10-year-old boy to Albania with his father due to his food sensitivity An Albanian man’s deportation from the UK was stopped owing to his son’s distaste for foreign chicken nuggets. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp told the British newspaper: “This case shows how bogus asylum seekers and foreign criminals are ruthlessly exploiting human rights laws and weak judges to stay in the UK when common sense clearly shows they should be kicked out.” Speaking to LBC, UK Border Security Minister Dame Angela Eagle said, “My opinion - since I’m not a judge - I’m fairly astonished but what we have to do is say we’re serious about this, we’ve deported a lot of people regardless of whether they like chicken nuggets or not.” What now? UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper appealed the tribunal’s judgement in August last year, arguing there was not enough proof that Disha’s deportation would be “unduly harsh” on his young son. As per The Telegraph, Upper Tribunal Judge David Merrigan said the only example listed in court documents was the young boy’s distaste for eating “the type of chicken nuggets that are available abroad”.
