Hassan W Jabbie receives life sentence after murdering pregnant lover Janet Dweh

ABC

A man who murdered his heavily pregnant lover after trying to pressure her into terminating the pregnancy has been sentenced to life in prison. The court heard Jabbie struck Ms Dweh with the hammer 30 times before removing the hard drive from the home's CCTV camera and burying it along with the murder weapon. 'It wasn't quick' During the seven-week trial, the court heard Jabbie told an undercover police officer, who was posing as another detainee, that he had buried items used in the killing in a vacant block near his house, including the metal object he had struck Ms Dweh with. Jabbie also told the undercover officer he wished he had never met Ms Dweh and his wife was "very pissed off" after hearing about the pregnancy. Jabbie denied having anything to do with Ms Dweh's death, with his lawyer suggesting other people could have been the killer, including Jabbie's wife, whom he said had "the most compelling motive out of any individual to prevent Ms Dweh from giving birth to Mr Jabbie's child".
