FirstpostThe government has kickstarted a process to appoint officials for the two Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir and to divide the assets between them The government has kickstarted a process to appoint officials for the two Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir and to divide the assets between them. “The All India Service officers to be posted to Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir or Union territory of Ladakh, as the case may be, shall be borne on the Arunachal Goa Mizoram Union Territory cadre, and necessary modifications in corresponding cadre allocations rules may be made accordingly, by the Central Government,” notes the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act. Officials said that they have been also tasked with the job to divide both the “assets and liabilities” of the different government companies and the public sector undertakings between the two Union territories. “The expenditure in respect of salaries and allowances of the Judges of the common high court shall be allocated amongst the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh on the basis of population ratio,” notes the Act.
