Strict action will be taken against the accused in acid attack case, says Annamayya district SP Vidyasagar

The Annamayya district police on Saturday arrested 22-year-old Sankarapu Ganesh on the charges of attacking a woman with acid and injuring her with a knife at Pyarampalle village of Gurramkonda mandal on Friday. Enraged over the woman’s engagement to another man, Ganesh had allegedly forcibly entered her house when her parent were away, and attacked her with acid and later with a knife, causing her severe injuries, Superintendent of Police V. Vidyasagar Naidu told the media. Strict legal action will be taken against the accused,” the Superintendent of Police asserted, and reiterated the department’s commitment to protecting the safety of women. “Crimes against women will not be tolerated,” he said, adding that the district police had launched a WhatsApp channel to create public awareness on the issue.
