ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Virat Kohli fined 25 percent of match fee, handed one demerit point for excessive appealing

Virat Kohli is found to have breached Article 2.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to ‘Excessive appealing during an International Match’ during their match against Afghanistan. India captain Virat Kohli has been fined 25 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of ICC Code of Conduct during the match against Afghanistan. Played at Rose Bowl in Southampton, Kohli was found to have breached Article 2.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “Excessive appealing during an International Match”, said the global cricket body in a media release. As per the ICC rules, Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, or a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
