Bus services reduced in Chennai amid rise in fuel prices
India TodayAmid the rise in fuel prices, the Metropolitan Transport Corporation has cut down the bus services on around 26 routes in Chennai. As per the report by the Times of India, the bus services have been cut on routes such as 47D, 206, 266, B70 and 24C, which connect Avadi with Thiruvanmiyur, Guduvanchery, Tambaram, Guindy and Triplicane respectively. T Sadagopan, a resident activist from Avadi told TOI, "MTC staff say they are unable to operate buses as per the original pre-Covid schedule due to increasing diesel expenses. But they don't realise that even people face a much larger crisis because of a drop in the number of government buses.” With a decline in bus services, commuters are forced to travel in crowded local trains or pay extra for auto rickshaws.
