Rare heart surgery performed on a Dextrocardia patient

Nellore: A Coronary Artery Bypass Graft was performed on a 47-year-old person whose heart is on the right side of the chest at Medicover Hospital in Nellore successfully. The patient identified as Tirupathi Reddy of Nellore is a rare case of Situs Inversus Totalis with dextrocardia in which all the right-sided organs are present on the left side and the left-sided organs of the body are present on the right side. The incidence of dextrocardia with situs inversus in the general population is 1 in 10,000, doctors said, adding that Dextrocardia patients seldom require CABG surgeries. The patient underwent off-pump beating heart CABG surgery, which is only the 14th such case worldwide by Dr. Trilok, cardiothoracic surgeon, and his team under the YSR Aarogyasri scheme, free of cost.
