Tasmanians returning from short trips interstate no longer need to isolate after rules backflip

There's good news for Tasmanians returning home from short trips seven days and under from interstate: you no longer have to isolate at home while waiting for your COVID test result. But the Friday press conference announced that those Tasmanians taking short trips would now need to get a test within one day of returning and remain isolated at home until they got their results back. "If you want to go and shop in Melbourne for a day and it's into one of the high-risk areas, then you'll need to have a COVID test on your return and isolate until you get the result," Premier Peter Gutwein said on Friday. Then later on Monday, State Health Commander Kathrine Morgan-Wicks performed the second backflip — announcing that while returning Tasmanians would still need to get tested, they wouldn't need to isolate.
