Habits to practice to overcome emotional monitoring

Hindustan Times

A lot of us have the habit of emotional monitoring. “You might have developed a hyper sense of awareness to other people's mood and most importantly, mood changes,” wrote therapist Israa Nasir as she explained emotional monitoring and how it can harm us emotionally. Israa further shared a few habits that we can practice to overcome emotional monitoring and how we can put ourselves and our own emotions as the priority: Pause and observe: We need to become aware of the way we are feeling. We need to take a pause and observe how we are feeling and introspect if we are feeling this because of someone else’s emotions. Rather than engaging with the urge to predict or assume the emotions of others, we should learn to tolerate whatsoever may come on the way.
