Daily MailIran held funeral processions this morning for Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh who was assassinated in a suspected Israeli missile strike on Tehran yesterday just hours after he attended the inauguration of Iran's new president. The Islamic Republic's Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was seen weeping over the coffin of Haniyeh as he led prayers for the slain Hamas leader, having earlier declared Iran had 'a duty to seek revenge' for his killing. Haniyeh's death was announced yesterday morning by Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps, who said he and his bodyguard were killed in a strike on their accommodation in the Iranian capital at 2:00am on Wednesday. Iran's conservative parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Iran 'will certainly carry out the supreme leader's order ' The newly inaugurated Iranian president meanwhile said Wednesday that 'the Zionists will soon see the consequences of their cowardly and terrorist act'.
