Starbucks: What one man named Winter learned from visiting 19,000 stores.
SlateWherever I go, there is Starbucks. And one man, known only as Winter, has set out to drink coffee at every Starbucks there is. At the time of writing, Winter has visited a staggering total of 19,511 different Starbucks locations across the world since he began his quest in 1997. During the COVID pandemic, he completed a manuscript detailing his journeys and the how-to’s of what he calls “Starbucking.” In a way that may make sense only to avid birders, Winter has amassed an impressive collection of Starbucks. “As someone who has traveled extensively,” Winter said, “when I have been on the road for several hours and I get to a place that is unfamiliar, I appreciate that Starbucks gives me something that is familiar, to sort of anchor me.” Winter is not alone in his Starbucks fascination.
