Why Indian Railways will empathise with Air India over mid-air toilet trouble

India Today

When Air India’s flight AI126 departed from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport for New Delhi on March 5, passengers had probably expected little more than a movie marathon or a good nap. While Air India arranged for hotels in Chicago for passengers and also alternate flights, its investigation hit some strange discoveries: polythene bags, rags and even items of clothing stuck in the plumbing systems of the flight. The incident also prompted broader discussions, linking the case to similar problems long associated with India’s crowded railway network. Turns out that like railways, there is never a dull moment aboard Air India flights too.
