Visitors throng botanical garden in Puducherry as L-G and CM inaugurate three-day farm fest in U.T.
The sprawling Botanical Garden in Puducherry has turned into a kaleidoscope of colours with the commencement of the annual farm fest on Friday evening. Organised annually by the Agriculture department, the fest showcases ornamental flowers, vegetables, cut flowers, pot culture plants, hybrid vegetables and fruits. Around 36,000 plants of 19 varieties, such as Balsam, Calendula, Celosia, Coleus, Cosmos, Dahlia, Marigold, French Marigold, Petunia, Salvia, Bougainvillea, Snapdragon, Verbena, Vinca, Zinnia and Tythonia, all produced by the Horticulture wing of the Agriculture department, are on display at the fest. Institutes, such as Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research, Agricultural Technology Management Agency of Puducherry, Indian Institute of Horticulture Research of Bengaluru and National Research Centre of Banana, Tiruchi have set up stalls at the fest.
