Who is Sidney Powell, the lawyer the Trump campaign is now distancing itself from?
ABCUS President Donald Trump's election campaign has issued a statement distancing itself from Sidney Powell, a lawyer who made baseless allegations of voter fraud. Ms Powell, a former federal prosecutor, took over last year as the lead lawyer for Mr Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. "Rudy Giuliani, Joseph diGenova, Victoria Toensing, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis, a truly great team, added to our other wonderful lawyers and representatives," Mr Trump said in the tweet. Mr Giuliani also made claims, at the same conference as Ms Powell, that the Democrats misused absentee and mail-in ballot processes "in order to cheat" during the presidential election. Those members are part of Mr Trump's personal legal team, whereas Pat Cipollone serves as White House counsel, the "President's lead lawyer".
