Telangana 5th Largest Contributor to Indian Economy
Deccan ChronicleMumbai: Telangana has slipped one place and is now the seventh largest contributor to the country’s economy for 2023-24 according to the Reserve Bank of India’s ‘Handbook of Statistics on Indian States’ released on Monday. The net state domestic product for Telangana rose to Rs 13.61 lakh crore from Rs 11.87 lakh crore in 2022-23, a growth of 15 per cent. The first place was taken by Maharashtra that had a net state domestic product of Rs 35.24 lakh crore in 2023-24 compared to Rs 31.79 lakh crore in 2022-23. Tamil Nadu secured the second place with Rs 24.26 lakh crore net state domestic product followed by Karnataka with Rs 22.61 lakh crore, Uttar Pradesh at fourth place, West Bengal at fifth position, Rajasthan and Telangana at the seventh place. The handbook provides sub-national statistics on socio-demographics, health, state domestic product, agriculture, environment, price and wages, industry, infrastructure, banking and fiscal indicators across Indian states over various time periods ranging from 1951 to 2024.
