Kevin Sinfield relishes his 'big responsibility to the MND community'

His latest mission finished at last weekend’s rugby league World Cup final at Old Trafford ‘I understand rugby gave me a wonderful platform and I’m trying to use it in the best way I can to try and help people,’ said Sinfield, now defence coach at Leicester Tigers. The bigger picture in all of this is to try and find a cure and to support families who have been ravaged.’ Sinfield is attempting to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease after former Leeds Rhino teammate and friend Rob Burrows was diagnosed with the disease Sinfield’s strong bond with Burrow is what has driven him on through his feats of incredible endurance. Sinfield admits this might be his last big run - but also wants to keep challenging himself ‘The sooner some of that £50m is passed over, the sooner some smarter minds than mine in science and research can get on with trying to find a cure or a drug that slows this down.’ Sinfield will never stop fighting for MND sufferers despite the bureaucracy at Westminster. Sinfield’s strong bond with Burrow has driven him on through his feats of incredible endurance ‘My playing career prepared me for some of the challenges I’ve faced in the past couple of years.
