The Hindu

Inspector General of Police Ajit Kumar Singla, during a road safety awareness event in Karaikal on Saturday, emphasised the importance of wearing helmets and following traffic rules. Addressing the press, Mr. Singla highlighted efforts to achieve zero road fatalities within 10 years, aiming to eliminate accident-related deaths across Puducherry, Mahe, and Yanam. Law and order initiatives include intensified beat patrolling, weekend marches, and active deployment of tourist and traffic police. In response to a question regarding the demand for a new women police station, Mr. Singla said it would be considered based on population and the number of reported cases.
