Google Assistant that talks like humans is definitely cool, but it is also creepy
It's the season of developer conferences and one event that has single-handedly managed to steal the show from Facebook and Microsoft is the ongoing Google I/O 2018. While Android P, artificial intelligence powered Google News, a smart Google Maps app and an equally efficient Gmail are definitely worth your time, one announcement that stands out from the rest is Google Duplex - an AI part of Google Assistant that can accomplish real world tasks over the phone. While chances of Google Duplex turning into and an Ultron-like terminator seem surreal, a better example would be AI Winston from Dan Brown's Origin. More importantly, you would remember that it could book appointments and make calls in human voice just like Google Duplex and that it could summon terabytes of information within no time and make real time conversations with people. While Google Duplex is still in the stage where it can book appointments, may be the day is not far when this technology will surpass the human expectation and become a living and breathing entity existing solely in the digital space.
