Delhi Covered in Light Haze, 26 Trains Affected; IMD Forecasts Mercury May Dip Between Jan 5 & 11
News 18The India Meteorological Department on Monday warned about cold-wave days in central parts of the nation for this month. As per IMD’s forecast, dense to very dense conditions are likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, North-east India and many other states. Director General of IMD, Dr Mrityunjay Mohapatra said, “During January 5 – January 11, we are expecting night temperature to fall, it may lead to cold wave conditions in some parts of central India… day temperature will also be below normal leading to cold day conditions especially in Madhya Pradesh, northern parts of Maharashtra, southern parts of Uttar Pradesh.” LATEST UPDATES The minimum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 8.3 degrees Celsius, which is a notch above normal, the Met office said. It also said that dense fog days are also likely over parts of northwest and east India till January 4. Cold day to severe cold day conditions have been predicted over some parts of Uttar Pradesh and isolated areas of West Rajasthan on January 1 and 2.
