From Brooklyn's Darling to Los Angeles' Colossus: The Dodgers' Epic Journey Across the Miles

CNN

The Brooklyn Dodgers went from being a darling of New York to becoming Los Angeles' colossus. Charles Byrne, a real estate magnate, bought the franchise in 1883 and built Washington Park, which became the team's home. The Dodgers won the pennant four times in the first 30 years of the 20th century, but their reputation shifted from winning machine to lovable losers in the 1930s. However, the Dodgers' fortunes changed in the 1940s and 1950s, and they finally won their first World Championship in 1955. The franchise has since moved to Los Angeles, but they have maintained their rivalry with the New York Yankees, playing in the World Series four more times before 2024.
