Looking over the past decade however, there’s been a noticeable shift – a steady decline in the popularity of novelty songs in the Hottest 100. 2010 Loading The Bedroom Philosopher, aka comedian Justin Heazlewood, made it to #91 in the Hottest 100 with ‘Northcote ’, which skewered hipster culture. 2019 There’s no traditional joke songs in the latest Hottest 100, but it’d be impossible to supress a chuckle listening to ‘Pub Feed’ by The Chats, coming in at #21.
