Bombay High Court orders fast-tracked trial in the Badlapur sexual assault case

The Bombay High Court on Monday directed a swift trial in the Badlapur sexual assault case of two kindergarten children and said that the case must be fast-tracked as the victims who are just four and five years old, are young children. Mr. Venegaonkar also submitted to the Bench that the children would get free of cost education till class eight as per the Maharashtra government’s policy. On this the Bench said that by the next date of hearing, which is on January 20, if the committee report is submitted, the same has to be produced before the court and on the same day, the Public Prosecutor has to inform the final stage of the trial to the court. On January 20, the court will also hear the petition filed by the parents of Badlapur sexual assault accused, Akshay Shinde who died in police encounter on September 24, 2024.
