Six months after Kolkata's RG Kar rape and murder case shocked the nation, Mamata Banerjee's West Bengal government has announced a salary hike for state government doctors. On Monday, while making the announcement of a salary hike for doctors at a medical conclave in Kolkata, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that senior doctors will see a pay raise of Rs 15,000, while the hike for junior doctors, interns, house staff and post-graduate trainees will be Rs 10,000 each. During the event, Mamata Banerjee condoled the death of the RG Kar case victim, saying, "I pay my sympathies to the family of my sister who lost her life.
