World Test Championship Scenarios: What Team India needs to make WTC final as Aussies stand in way?
India TV NewsWith a place in the World Test Championship final up for grabs, the Indian team will look at the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy as a significant step in the pursuit of a place in the final. India If Sri Lanka win both their Tests in New Zealand, India would need to win at least three of the four Tests against Australia to stay clear of Sri Lanka's 61.11%. If the Border-Gavaskar trophy ends in a 1-1 stalemate, India will end with 55.09% and South Africa can pip them if they beat West Indies 2-0 and so does Sri Lanka if they win 2-0 or 1-0 in New Zealand. The only mathematical possibility of them not making it is if they lose 4-0 to India and Sri Lanka win 2-0 in New Zealand. For South Africa to qualify, they would need India to lose to Australia or the series to end in a 1-1 draw and then Sri Lanka not to win more than one Test in New Zealand.
