Andhra Pradesh sets aside Rs 10 crore in budget for development of Telugu

To promote and give prominence to Telugu, Andhra Pradesh government, in its state budget, allocated Rs 10 crore for the development of the language. Making the announcement in the Assembly, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav said Telugu was one of the oldest languages known, and the allocation was done to preserve and protect it. To propagate and develop Telugu language, we’re allocating Rs 10 crore for the same,” he said during his budget presentation. Meanwhile, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains made Punjabi compulsory for Class 1-10 in state across all boards to clear Class 10 examinations.
