Defence Minister Rajnath on three-day visit to Russia, to oversee commissioning of frigate Tushil
The HinduThe first of two stealth guided missile frigates, Tushil, under construction in Russia is set to be commissioned during the three-day visit of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh beginning on Sunday for the 21st meeting of India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation. During the visit, Mr. Singh and his Russian counterpart Andrey Belousov will co-chair the 21st meeting of the IRIGC-M&MTC in Moscow on December 10, a defence ministry statement said. INS Tushil is an upgraded Krivak III class frigates of the Project 1135.6 of which, six are already in service – three Talwar class ships, built at Baltisky shipyard, St. Petersburg, and three follow-on Teg class ships, built at Yantar shipyard, Kaliningrad. The ships construction was closely monitored by an Indian team of specialists from the Warship Overseeing Team stationed at Kaliningrad, under the aegis of the Embassy of India, Moscow, the Navy said in a statement.
